Introduction

In every window's menu bar, clicking on the small KeyMaster icon displays an application-wide main menu.

About KeyMaster...

Opens the "about box".

Help...

Opens this on-line documentation, using the preferred application for HTML documents.

If KeyMaster gets confused about where the help file is, it will ask you to find the file by opening a file panel. When you select the help file, the application will remember the new help file location. The help file, "index.html", is normally found in the help folder inside the KeyMaster folder).

Find...

Opens the Find window, from which you can search for chains, songs, patches, instruments, and MIDI messages.

A popup menu lets you select what kind of object to find: chain, song, patch, instrument, or message. The "Open" button opens the editor window for the object that is found. The "Goto" button makes the found chain, song, patch, or message the current one. This button is disabled when you select "Instrument".

When you type a name into the Find window, remember that (a) you can type any unique name prefix, and (b) case doesn't matter.

Movement

The movement menu items let you move between chains, songs, and patches. There are four groups of menu items. Each group is the same, except for the targets: chains, songs, patches, and MIDI messages.

First/Previous/Next/Last

Makes the first, previous, next, or last object the current one. See the Movement sections's Introduction for the meaning of "current."

Resend Current Patch

Sends the current patch's exit MIDI Message, then send its enter MIDI Message.

The shortcut for this menu item is Alt-SPACE.

All Notes Off

This is the "Panic Button". It sends the MIDI all-notes-off message to all MIDI channels on both MIDI output ports.

The shortcut for this menu item is Alt-`.

Preferences...

Opens a dialog box that lets you set KeyMaster preferences, including the shortcut keys for "Movement" menu items. For more information see the section on the Preferences window.

Quit

Quit? Why quit?

If the currently open document has been changed, you are asked if you want to save the document before quitting. If it has not changed but you have selected the "Ask About Quitting" preference in the Preferences window, then you are asked if you want to quit.
